Your mouth is part of your whole health. Understanding it is one step toward a healthier you.

Learn more about your whole health

Gum health needs a deeper conversation.

“Brush and floss more” cannot be the whole conversation. Daily care matters. So do your biology, health history and the community of microbes in your mouth. Our ambition is to make room for all of it, with science, personal guidance and care without judgment. Whether your mouth feels healthy or you have ongoing concerns, you belong in this conversation.

Bacteria are only part of the story.

Who’s there? What are they doing? Your mouth’s microbes have a story to tell. Researchers also study metabolites, small molecules produced by cells and microbes, for clues about oral health and inflammation. That is the deeper conversation we want to open.

Inflammation deserves investigation.

Persistent gum inflammation deserves an assessment and a plan. We’re developing DECODE 32™ to bring saliva-based oral microbiome testing into that conversation, alongside guidance from your Oral Wellness Coach. Our aim: more informed questions and care that considers the person behind the results.

Your mouth belongs in the bigger health conversation.

Heart disease. Diabetes. The connections make oral health worth a closer look. Research links gum disease with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke, though a cause-and-effect relationship has not been established. Diabetes can increase the risk of gum disease, and gum disease may make blood sugar harder to control. These connections are reasons for coordinated care, not predictions about your health. Oral microbiome testing does not diagnose these conditions or replace medical care.

Brain health is part of the conversation.

The mouth–brain connection is being studied, too. A long-term study following 8,275 adults found a modest association between gum disease and later dementia. Research led by National Institute on Aging scientists also found associations between markers of gum disease and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. These observational findings do not prove that gum disease causes dementia, or that oral testing or treatment prevents it. They give us another reason to include oral health in the conversation about lifelong wellbeing. DECODE 32™ does not diagnose or predict dementia.

Evidence varies and some findings conflict. Associations do not prove cause and effect. DECODE 32™ does not diagnose, predict or screen for these conditions, or replace medical care.
