THE HYGIENIST BAR

Sensory-Friendly Care

Sensory-friendly care adapts the pace, communication, and comfort options of your dental visit to your needs. All our hygienists can provide these adjustments during your appointment.

What sensory-friendly care means

Sounds, sensations, scents, and unfamiliar steps can make a dental visit overwhelming. Sensory-friendly care means discussing what affects you and adjusting how we deliver your care. It is an approach to your appointment, rather than a separate treatment.

Your visit, at your pace

Tell us how much explanation you prefer, ask us to describe a step before we begin, and let us know when you need a pause. We can slow down and take breaks. Share what helps before your visit or when you arrive.

Available comfort options

Choose weighted or heated blankets, noise-canceling headphones, a neck roll, your music, massage glasses, or essential oils. Prefer no added fragrance? We’ll skip the oils. Tell us which options help and which you prefer to avoid.

Who this is for

These options are available to children and adults, including guests with sensory sensitivities or dental anxiety. You do not need a diagnosis to tell us what makes care more comfortable for you.

Book your visit. Tell us what helps.

Book the cleaning or other appointment you need in our calendar. You can share comfort and communication preferences separately through Customize your visit, or tell your hygienist when you arrive.
